weekend, football, radio silence and returns

This weekend represented my first time experiencing first hand cliché movie plot number 306: my wacky parents/family come into town for the weekend. Weird.

Fortunately none of 306s plot attributes are present in my real life, i.e. I’m not secretly gay/unemployed/addicted to crack/selling Cambodian children in the Fashion district and my parents/family aren’t super conservative/mafia/senators/folk singers.

Instead I got to see my awesome step-sister Catherine play two games (she plays on the University of Georgia’s Women’s’ Football Team, all of you Americans seem to be under the impression the sport is called soccer. Weird.) one against USC where they tied and one against LMU (Loyola, incidentally where the two games took place) in which Catherine’s team lost.

For those of you who REALLY know me you know I played football when I was a younger tyke, fullback position invariably, the same position Catherine plays. The only difference is that Catherine could go pro, that is, if there was a women’s pro league. She really kicks ass and beats herself more than she should. She also got clobbered good the first game and had to get two stitches under her right eye.

For most of you who know me you know that I’m not exactly a jock-sports-watching type. However by the second game I was yelling nearly as loud and often at the ref for bad calls as my step-bro Chris who was also in town. (Well go drinking next time Nancy. It’s all good.)

Due to my mother being in town I ate a lot and had no time to work out or work on anything productive really. (Earlier this week I was happy to find I had gained 7 lbs since I moved to LA and lost an inch on my tummy. I fear that I may be flab-tastic once again.)

But I did spread Crash around like a virus, from my own private viewing a couple of days ago I have now made my uncle Felix, aunt Karen, girlfriend Ashley, step-dad Jim and mother watch it over this weekend. My step-sis Catherine is on it and if you haven’t already you need to watch it too.

I’ll be in ‘burque this weekend for Marisa’s wedding arriving at about noon on Thursday and leaving on Sunday at about 4 pm. I’ll, of course be at KGB on Thursday, and then I got a wedding rehearsal Friday, and the wedding proper on Saturday. I didn’t get to see many of you last time and it looks like I may be a bit busy but give me a call if you have my number and we’ll kick it old/nerd school.

I will also be back for a shorter time in early October, just so you all know.

Update: Cherokee studios have yet to call me back, but if their previous behavior is any indication, they’ll probably call me in mid-January and ask where I’ve been.

Also my Nomad now has 38.5 GB of mp3s as I have finally gone from A-Z. Now all I have to do is rip like 3 million more CDs…

Don't forget we need to get you my clothes if you're still interested. Call me and we'll figure out a time. I get out of work around 6pm on weekdays and I rehearse from 4 to about 7 on saturdays.
